1. Does your company supply local produce?
We do as a matter of course and when in season, look to support and supply locally grown fresh produce,we have a number of local growers in our area, as well as the Scottish Borders and North Yorkshire, apart from fresh produce, we have an extensive range of locally produced Bakery and Dairy products. 2. Which areas do you deliver too and how often?
We distribute extensively six days per week through out the 12 Counties of the North East of England, the company has a distribution fleet of 25 x 7.5 tonne Mercedes Benz Refrigerated Vehicles.
3. What training do you provide for your staff?
We have a number of training programmes that all of our staff must under take, drivers for example, work towards their NVQ level 2 Driving Goods Vehicles, Warehouse staff work towards their NVQ level 2 Warehousing and Storage, other in house training programmes are in place to cover Food Hygiene and Health & Safety. The company has a proven track record in looking to provide the best training for it's staff.
4. What trade bodies are you members of?
We are members of The Fresh Produce Consortium who provide their members with any changes in legislation, as well as weekly up dates in all things fresh produce, we are also members of the Freight Transport Association and The North East Chamber of Commerce.
5. Do you support any local initiatives?
As part of our Corporate and Social Responsibility programme, we supply a number of Community Farm Projects with fresh produce, the Community Farms do an enormous amount of good work with local schools, we regularly support the Children's Great North Run, we are proud sponsors of the Healthy Living Award as part of the North East School Awards. These are a few of the many local initiatives that we successfully support.
6. Do you have Quality Standards?
We have built a reputation for quality of product and quality of service, this is all made possible due to the quality procedures that we have in place, these quality procedures follow produce / products from goods receipt to dispatch, ensuring that our customers receive the very best, all of the time. The quality procedures are audited on a regular basis by our in house auditor and by an external auditing body on an annual basis. 7. How 'green' are you?
We are very conscious of the impact that we have on our environment, we have an extensive recycling programme within the business, we have made a huge effort in reducing the amount of packaging that we use, by packing all orders in returnable plastic crates, we do collect and recycle, acceptable used packaging from our customers. Where possible, in order to reduce food miles, we will collect produce from our local suppliers, all of our vehicles use ad-blue, which helps to reduce exhaust emissions. We have embarked on a programme of planting trees in each of the 12 Counties / areas that we operate in, we are also members of the Carbon Trust and are about to undergo a carbon audit.
8. Do you supply Fair Trade products?
As a buisness we are comitted to Fair Trade products, we donate a monthly sum to the Fair Trade Trust, as well as supplying Fair Trade Banana's on a daily basis (availability permitting) to all of our customers.
