Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent and initially came around as a way of eating foods that you wouldn’t normally eat during lent, so they were removed from your cupboard – this is how pancakes day was formed! Pancakes are made from milk, eggs and flour. Since a lot of Christian’s sustain from eating any animal products during lent, milk and eggs would need to be removed from their homes.
