Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent and initially came around as a way of eating foods that you wouldn’t normally eat during lent, so they were removed from your cupboard – this is how pancakes day was formed!
