Lent

The beginning of spring also brings with it the beginning or Lent. Lent is a religious tradition that suggests that the person participating should abstain from certain foods for 40 days. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent and initially came around as a way of eating foods that you wouldn’t normally eat during lent, so they were removed from your cupboard – this is how pancakes day was formed! Pancakes are made from milk, eggs and flour. Since a lot of Christian’s sustain from eating any animal products during lent, milk and eggs would need to be removed from their homes.

Although a lot of Lent diets have changed in recent years, many Christians choose to become vegetarian or vegan during Lent, with some indulging in Fish Friday’s. Due to this, we have comprised a list of seasoned vegetables below, to help see you through to the beginning of Easter,
