The summer season in the UK officially starts on the 1st June and lasts until 31 August and there are so many fresh fruit and vegetable products that are in their prime season within the UK. Below is a list of our favourite summer season food!

What Produce Is In Season In The UK This Summer? 

Berries

The berries that are in season within the UK this summer: 

  • Blackberries
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries

Berries are great fruits when in season and are super affordable to buy and can provide multiple purposes. For example; you can eat fresh fruit as it comes, as a snack and on the go, you can blend a variety of berries for homemade smoothies and juices and blitz to make fresh sauces and purees perfect for accompanying dessert choices at meal time. But did you know the endless health benefits that berries can bring? They aid in fighting inflammation, help to lower cholesterol levels, jam-packed with antioxidants, high in fibre and are good for keeping your skin in clear, healthy condition, to name a few. 

Rhubarb

Rhubarb is in good supply in the UK this summer, and can provide maximum flavour for whatever you decide to cook it with, whether it be used in baking, integrated into your savoury dishes or even used as an ingredient to a homemade alcoholic cocktail! It has a high fibre content contributing as a natural, healthy bowel movement and it provides a healthy amount of vitamins K and C, potassium and manganese, and low in calories hosting just 20 calories per serving.

Beetroot and Celery

Courgettes 

Courgettes are often at their prime between the months of June to September and can be used within a range of different recipes for a healthy and nutritious meal. Try it raw, fried or in a stir-fry for a selection of flavours to be brought through.
